Craniosacral Massage

What is craniosacral massage?

CST is a gentle technique that focuses on evaluating and enhancing the way the CranioSacral system functions. The Craniosacral system is made up of membranes and cerebrospinal fluid which surrounds and protects the brain.

When a therapist is performing Craniosacral therapy, they are focusing on returning things to normal balance. They find the restrictions within the core of your body (the spinal cord) and work on releasing them.
Craniosacral has been found to help with:

  • Migraine headaches
  • Chronic neck and back pain
  • Motor co-ordination impairments
  • Colic
  • Autism
  • Central Nervous System Disorders
  • Orthopedic problems
  • Traumatic Brain and Spinal cord Injuries
  • Scoliosis
  • Infantile Disorders
  • Learning disabilities
  • Chronic fatigue
  • Emotional disorders
  • Stress and tension related problems
  • Fibromyalgia and other Connective Tissue disorders
  • Temperomandibular Joint Syndromes (TMJ)
  • Neurovascular or Immune disorders

What to expect on your first treatment?
It is normal to feel a little light headed, so we always recommend getting up slowly at first. You may feel very emotional, relaxed, tired. If you have any questions or concerns after your treatment, contact your therapist, they will be able to help you further understand what may be going on.
How many treatments will I need?
This varies depending on the severity of the problem we are working with. Most clients feel a difference after one treatment. Others it may take a few to get to the root of the problem.
Does craniosacral hurt?
No. Craniosacral Massage is a very light pressure treatment. The client remains fully clothed while the therapist feels for areas of restriction within the body and focuses on energy to return balance to the area of concern.
